Hi, I'm your Doula Ieva
My name is Ieva, and I am a birth doula dedicated to supporting English-speaking birthing people, couples, and expats in Amsterdam and surrounding areas in the Netherlands, as well as in Vilnius, Lithuania.
My journey into birth work began with my own transformative and empowering pregnancy and birth experience, along with a deep belief that every person deserves compassionate, informed, and continuous support during this life-changing event.
As a doula, my role is to walk alongside you, offering unwavering support so you can approach birth with confidence, no matter how or where it unfolds. My goal is to ensure you feel seen, heard, and empowered every step of the way.

About Doulas & FAQ
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth. Unlike medical professionals, doulas do not perform medical procedures or make decisions for you. Instead, they help you feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout your journey.
When should I get in touch with a doula?
You can reach out at any point in your pregnancy - some people choose a doula early on, while others decide closer to their due date. Ideally, reaching out in the second trimester allows enough time to build a strong connection and prepare for birth together. However, if you're later in pregnancy and feel you’d benefit from doula support, don’t hesitate to reach out!
How does a doula support a partner or birth companion?
A doula doesn’t replace a partner but instead helps them feel more confident and involved in the birth process. I offer guidance on how partners can provide hands-on comfort, advocate for your birth preferences, and stay present without feeling overwhelmed. My role is to support both of you, ensuring that the birth experience is positive for everyone.
What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife or gynaecologist?
A midwife or gynaecologist is a medical professional responsible for monitoring the health of the birthing person and baby, managing labour, and handling any medical interventions if necessary.
A doula, on the other hand, is a non-medical support person focused on your comfort and emotional well-being. I ensure you feel informed, calm, and empowered, helping you navigate your birth experience with confidence - whether at home, in a hospital, or anywhere in between.
What if I have a planned C-section or medical induction?
Doulas support all types of births, including planned C-sections and inductions. I help you prepare emotionally, offer guidance on what to expect, and provide hands-on comfort as well as emotional support during your birth.
Can I have a doula if I give birth in a hospital?
Absolutely! Many people choose to have a doula for hospital births to ensure they feel supported and informed in a medical setting. I provide continuous emotional and physical support, whether you’re at home or in a hospital.
Does a doula make decisions for me?
No. A doula’s role is to provide information and support so you can make the decisions that feel right for you. My goal is to empower you with knowledge and confidence, not to direct your birth choices.
